THE OIL CRASH

Is the age of oil ending? Does that mean Armageddon or can we find a way towards sustainability.

Bergen Student Society and BIFF arrange a debate about a collapse of world oil production in the near future, and it's consequences for the world eceonomy. 3,2 billion people in China, India and Africa are on the brink of a new era that will lead to a total level of consumption that is unheard of. We seem to think that something new will take oil's place – but what?

Oil expert Olve Torvanger, Sandrine Tørstad from Hydro and film maker Ray McCormack will discuss Peak Oil, about what happens when demand of oil heavily exseeds supply. The discussion will be based on the films A CRUDE AWAKENING: THE OIL CRASH and THE END OF SUBURBIA.
