Serdar Akar was born i Ankara in 1964. He graduated from Economic and Commercial Sciences Academy in 1985 and from Cinema & TV department of Mimar Sinan University in 1994. He worked as assistant to several Turkish directors before starting to make his own films: GEMIDE in 1999 and OFFSIDE in 2000. Since that, Serdar Akar has worked mainly for television, and VALLEY OF THE WOLVES started out as a TV-series in 2003.
"Some men are born to be heroes." A Turkish special agent sets out to restore justice in Iraq.
This action film is based on an actual incident in northern Iraq: In 2003 US soldiers arrested 11 Turkish officers and pulled bags over their heads before taking them away. It was an insult to the Turkish people. From this point the film is pure fiction and pure action. When the Turkish intelligence agent Polat Alemdar comes to revenge the 11 soldiers, he is shocked by the brutality and cynicism of the US forces in Northern Iraq.
VALLEY OF THE WOLVES has sparked mass hysteria in Turkey and has also become a hit among the Turkish population in Germany.
